The Role
The Latin American Forest Products Economic Analysis Intern will provide support to the Latin America Economist in assisting daily routine tasks, monitoring, analysing, and reporting on the Latin American forest products industry. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in market research, data analysis, and industry forecasting within a global context.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Analytical Support: Support the Latin American Economist in conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of market data. This may include assisting with data entry, running basic statistical analyses, and creating charts and graphs.
- Data Gathering, Market Monitoring and Organisation: Assist in collecting and organizing data related to the Latin American forest products market, including pricing, production, consumption, and trade data. This may involve utilizing databases, online resources, and industry publications.
- Database Management: Help maintain and update databases related to the forest products market. This may involve data entry, data validation, and developing database queries.
- Automation Support: Support opportunities to automate data collection, cleaning, and reporting processes.
- Report Preparation: Assist in the creation of regular reports, presentations, and other deliverables related to market analysis and forecasts. This includes formatting, proofreading, and fact-checking.
- Communication Support: Assist in preparing communications materials for clients, internal stakeholders, and conferences.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Economics, International Affairs, Business Administration, Forestry, or a related field
- Strong interest in market research and the forest products industry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Power
- Point is mandatory
- Knowledge on programming skills such as R, Python or VBA is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Knowledge of English is mandatory
- Knowledge of Spanish is a plus
